Trees Across Sugar Land
Our annual Trees Across Sugar Land was held on November 1st. 70 hard-working KSLB volunteers planted 125 native hardwoods that KSLB donated for Brazos River Park. 45 of those volunteers were Clements High School NJROTC! Thank you for your continued support of our programs and your commitment to our community!
KSLB sponsored a second Trees Across Sugar Land this year on December 10. KSLB donated eight 15-gallon trees and four 30-gallon trees for City Park.
Trees Across Sugar Land began in 2007 when Keep Sugar Land Beautiful received a donation of 5,000 native saplings. Our first event was held on an extremely rainy morning in what would become Sugar Land Memorial Park. I vividly remember a four year old volunteer that was so excited to plant. He had practiced planting before our event so the trees he planted would grow forever! After the event, he stopped to tell me that he kissed his trees and his mom promised they would visit his trees... I hope his love of trees continues!
50,694 native hardwoods have been planted by 4,161 KSLB volunteers since 2007!
